Thanksgiving!

This year we had a huge Thanksgiving feast on Saturday night (I had concerts on Thursday and Friday.) We ordered our turkey from the butcher around the corner last week and picked it up Sat morning- it looked great but we had to ask them to chop the neck off for us...ewww. After an extra run up the hill for some last minute groceries from Pingo Doce we started cooking. Cornbread to eat and for the Flora's stuffing recipe, sweet potatoes with butter and brown sugar, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, apple cobbler, a salad and the star of the show- herb and olive oil rubbed turkey! Everything turned out wonderfully, we had about 11 guests and they were all delighted to finally learn that American food isn't just McDonalds and Pizzahut.
Everyone ended up eating, drinking and talking (and some card playing) until about three in the morning.
Mike and my first party since his move here in December was a great success...

Thanks for posting this Alice, you should post text more often. It is interesting to see a bit of the life of an American in Portugal.
